Saturday, December 14th Update 

Please be advised the water boil advisory has been lifted. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we underwent maintenance and repairs to our water lines over the last two weeks.

 

Friday, December 13th Update

All maintenance and repairs have been completed. Please be advised that the boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice. We expect to be able to provide an update by 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 14th.

 

Thursday, December 12th Update

The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect. Residents and businesses from Old Cart Road to Beachy Cove will not have access to water from tonight at 11:00 pm until tomorrow morning at 6:30 am. Please see below for more information.

 

Monday, December 9th, 2019

For Immediate Release

Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Boil Water Advisory and Water Disruptions scheduled for week of December 9th  

The Town will be completing maintenance and repairs on water lines throughout the Town from December 10th – 13th. This is expected to complete all maintenance and repairs that are required and no further water disruptions are expected following this week. During this time the Town will be implementing a Community Wide Boil Water Advisory.

Boil Water Advisory:

The Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s has issued a Community Wide Boil Water Advisory as of Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 until further notice for those residences and businesses on town water. The Boil Water Advisory does not impact residents whose water comes from wells.

The Boil Water Advisory has been issued as our water distribution system is undergoing maintenance and repairs.

Consumers are advised to boil water that you might ingest to a rigorous rolling boil for one (1) minute prior to consumption.

The town advises residents to boil water used for:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Making ice
  • Making juice from concentrate
  • Making infant formula and cereal
  • Cooking
  • Washing Fruits and vegetables
  • Making coffee/tea and other hot drinks

Work Schedule: 

Tuesday, December 10th 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

  • Residents of #71 – #114 Tolt Road will not have access to water during this period of time
  • Meadow Heights residents could experience water pressure variations and/or water loss

 

Wednesday, December 11th 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

  • Residents of #1246-#1308 Thorburn Road will not have access to water during this period of time

 

Thursday, December 12th – 11:00 pm to Friday, December 13th at 6:30 am. Note: This water outage will take affect over night. 

  • Residents and businesses from Old Cart Road to Beachy Cove will not have access to water during this period of time. Note: This water outage will take effect over night.

 

 

Please prepare for any water disruptions by having bottled water on hand for drinking, and to fill bathtubs with water to use in toilets and for other household uses.

Scheduled water service disruption extended for residents of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s during the week of December 2nd – 6th.

Please be advised that residents on town water may experience a water service disruption from 8:30am to 6:00pm for the entirety of the week of December 2nd to 6th, 2019, due to water line maintenance. This will not impact residents whose water comes from wells.

Residents on town water may expedience low water pressure or water loss during the hours of 8:30am and 6:00pm each day. The Town is asking all residents on town water to please limit their water usage as much as possible during these times to help reduce water pressure on the main water line.

The Town advises residents on town water to prepare by having bottled water on hand for drinking, and to fill bathtubs with water to use in toilets and for other household uses prior to 8:30am each day.
