Try Orienteering at PCSP Parks

Try something new in your community! Check out our Orienteering activity from June 18th-20th, 2021 at Rainbow Gully Park!

Description: Orienteering is an outdoor activity that challenges participants to use their navigation and map reading skills to find all 20 orienteering “signs” located in the park. The “signs” are pictures of animals posted on trees throughout the park (picture sizes range from wallet sized to about half a sheet of paper).

Objective: All 20 of the signs locations are represented on the map by a different yellow number, your job is to navigate to all 20 locations and find the corresponding animal picture for each number. For example, if I navigated to #16 and found a Beaver picture I would then write Beaver in the #16 space.

Answer sheets can be picked up from the Town Office between Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Submit all answers to [email protected] to see how many you got correct! The person who gets the most answers correct will win a PCSP Prize pack valued over $50, filled with some awesome prizes for summer fun! If there’s a tie – we’ll pick a winner by random draw.

  1. Do not touch, take or move signs please!
  2. All signs are visible from the walking path, participants do not need to leave the walking trail. We want to limit our impact on the environment.
  3. All signs are attached to tree’s no more than 2-3 meters from the trails edge, and no more than 10ft off the ground. Some signs might be slightly hidden/obstructed by branches.
