Megan Ridge Upgrades Project

The Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s wishes to advise residents in the Megan Ridge area that upgrades to the area will continue for approximately three weeks.

We would like to express our sincere apologies to the residents of the area, as we did not provide adequate notification of this project. We are very aware of the inconvenience that this has caused and take full responsibility for the lack of communication. We wish to provide you with important information (found below) and commit that the Town and contractor will work with individual homeowners should specific areas of concern need to be addressed.

The work being completed is part of the original development plan for the subdivision. This plan was the responsibility of the developer, however, following their bankruptcy, the Town Council decided to use the security funds, previously obtained by the developer, to complete the subdivision as planned.

The scope of work includes:

  • Installation of street lighting
  • The construction of a sidewalk
  • Repairs to the curb
  • A second layer of asphalt for the road

Residents who will have a sidewalk constructed in front of their house may lose access to their driveway for a period of up to one week. Street parking is encouraged during this time. The majority of work being completed will fall within the Town’s road reservation. Should private property be impacted, for example small driveway modifications to support the sidewalk, it will be reinstated as part of the project.

If you have any specific questions or concerns, residents are asked to contact the Town Manager/Engineer Chris Milley at 895-8000 ext 262 or [email protected]
