Fire Services Fleet Upgrade
The town recognized the need to upgrade the fire department fleet, specifically to acquire a replacement for the 1998 unit still in front line service. The normally accepted front line service life for a fire apparatus is 15 to 20 years.
With financial assistance from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, a tender was called in 2020 for a new pumper/tanker. Upon completion of the tender process the unit was ordered from Carl Thibault Fire Trucks Inc., in January of 2021, at a total price of $597,204.20 (HST included).
The new pumper/tanker was acquired in July 2022 and will serve as a valuable asset to our fire department fleet.
