Janet Martin
Janet Martin has been a resident of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s for about 20 years. It’s where she, and her husband Bob, have raised their family.
Janet has dedicated many years volunteering her time and energy to causes she believes in. As one of the original members of the Leary’s Brook Breakfast Club, there for 9 years, Janet has demonstrated her dedication to supporting families and seeing that every child starts their day with what they need to succeed. Her commitment to community well-being is at the core of everything she does.
Besides many other volunteer positions, Janet volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross for 10 years, assisting people in their time of need.
In 2016, the Town of Portugal Cove-St Philips honored her with the Volunteer of the Year award.
Janet is also an award-winning powerlifter, a distinction that speaks of her discipline and determination; qualities she will bring to the table as a councillor. Her experience in the sport has shaped her into a focused and goal-oriented individual who understands the value of working hard to achieve results.
Janet listens first, considers all sides, and works to find balanced, inclusive solutions. She believes that a strong community is built through respectful, inclusive communication, shared effort, and a united vision for the future.
Janet sees a need, and gets things done.
