Town Hall to Lower Flags to Half-Mast in Honour of John Crosbie

The Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s will be lowering our flags to half-mast today to honour John Crosbie, a former federal cabinet minister and lieutenant-governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. A long-time resident of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, Crosbie passed away on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at the age of 88 years old.

Crosbie began his political career with the St. John’s City Council, before moving on to provincial and federal politics. In his later years, he served as Newfoundland and Labrador’s lieutenant-governor, a role he held between 2008 and 2013.

We offer our condolences to the entire Crosbie family during this difficult time.
