Tickle Swim Cancelled – Now Virtual Event

For Immediate Release July 30, 2021 Canadian Mental Health Association, NL
THE 9th ANNUAL TICKLE SWIM FOR MENTAL HEALTH WILL BE HELD VIRTUALLY

(St. John’s, NL) – The 9th annual Tickle Swim for Mental Health, originally scheduled for July 31st, 2021 at 7:00 AM, with an alternate date of August 1st, 2021 at 7:00 AM in case of inclement weather, will move to a virtual event this year.

Due to the pending weather and after effects on ocean movements, very sadly, we will not be able to hold our traditional CMHANL Tickle Swim this weekend. The safety of our swimmers and kayakers must come first so we cannot responsibly look for loopholes or modifications for either Saturday or Sunday.

That said, swimmers will be showing creativity and finding ways to safely fulfill our commitments by swimming at another time and in the water of their choice. Swimmers will continue to achieve the 5km swim goal whether in local bodies of freshwater, pools, or through the Try the Tickle Event happening on August 14, 2021. They will continue to increase awareness of mental health in our province by demonstrating the connection between mental health and physical fitness, while raising funds for CMHA-NL’s programs and services.
