Summer Camp and Regatta Festival Cancellation
Changes to Town Programming in Response to Ongoing COVID-19 Situation
Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, NL – In response to the uncertainties surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Summer Camps and Regatta Festival. The Town’s annual Canada Day celebrations will be modified to take place virtually.
Summer Camps:
- After careful consideration we are unable to proceed with planning for summer camps this year with the uncertainty regarding our ability to meet existing and future guidelines given our operational constraints.
Regatta Festival:
- It is with great disappointment that we announce this year’s Regatta Festival will be cancelled. Large gatherings this summer do not meet the Eastern Health guidelines. While this year’s festival won’t be going ahead, we will be posting regular updates online through our social media channels for fun summer recreation activities that can safely be done within your bubbles this year.
Canada Day:
- Although it will look a little different, as the traditional in-person events will not be taking place this year, our 2020 Canada Day celebrations will be a go online. Further details on these virtual celebrations will be announced in the coming weeks. Residents are advised to follow the Town’s social media channels and website for updates.
We understand that these decisions may be disappointing to many and we sincerely apologize to residents for the inconvenience these changes may cause. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented times. If this pandemic has shown us anything, it’s how incredible our community is at coming together to support one another.
