“Sign Up for Safety” Campaign Launched by PCSP Lions Club and Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s
Civic Numbering Program will Support First Responders

Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, NL – The PCSP Lions Club, in partnership with The Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s (PCSP), are proud to announce the launch of the “Sign up For Safety” civic numbering campaign. This campaign will make it easy for residents in the community to order and install a civic number sign for their home and will act as a fundraiser to support local Lions Club activities.

Representatives from the PCSP Lions Club, Town Council, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, PCSP Volunteer Fire Department and Paramedics Association will be on hand to install the very first civic number sign at the home of Mayor Carol McDonald at 8 West Point Road in Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 28th at 2:00 pm and media are invited to attend.

“We are encouraging all residents in the community to “Sign up for Safety”! By clearly numbering your home with these reflective, two-sided signs, emergency responders will be able to find you and your neighbours much more easily and quickly when every second counts.” says Mayor Carol McDonald. “I am proud to have this sign installed at my home. Please sign up for yours today and support your local Lions Club. “

“Lions are always looking for ways to serve our community. When a need is identified, Lions ask what we can do to help. So when emergency first responders reported they have difficulty finding homes in our community, the Lions found a solution. In partnership with the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s we have created the Sign Up for Safety program.” Says Lion, Gavin Will. “For a nominal donation of $30 to the Lions you can help make your family safe, while also contributing to valuable community projects undertaken by the PCSP Lions Club.”
