April 16th Update: Portion of Beachy Cove Road Closed

Residents are advised that the Department of Transportation and Works has opened access to Beachy Cove Road as they work towards completing repairs to the area.

Update: April 16th at 5:00pm

Please be advised that the Department of Transportation and Works have awarded the contract to complete repairs to a portion of Beachy Cove Road. Construction for the area is expected to commence next week and take 2-3 weeks to complete. The road will remain closed until repairs are completed and the public is advised to continue to use Old Broad Cove Road as a detour. The Town will be supporting the Provincial government with their repairs by providing additional signage and communications.

The Department of Transportation and Works have awarded a contractor the tender to make repairs required to the Beachy Cove Road area. An expected timeline to when construction is expected to be completed should be provided soon. Residents are advised to adhere to the road closure and continue to use Old Broad Cove Road as a detour. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Update: April 6th at 5:30 pm

Following an assessment of the area, by the Department of Transportation and Works, a portion of Beachy Cove Road will remain closed until further notice. Repairs are required to address road safety issues in the area. An updated timeline of when the construction will be completed will be provided as soon as possible. Residents are advised to continue to use Old Broad Cove Road as a detour. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please be advised that a portion of Beachy Cove Road is now closed.  An area starting from the Ferry Terminal turn off towards the west,  just past the property formerly known as Atlantica Restaurant (approx 0.5 km), is closed to traffic until further notice. The closure is a result of erosion affecting the integrity of a utility pole in the area. Newfoundland Power and the Department of Transportation and Works are assessing the situation and we will provide an update on the expected timeline of the closure tomorrow. Residents are advised to use Old Broad Cove Road as a detour.
