Memorial Day
Each year on July 1st, Memorial Day is recognized in our province. It is a significant day as we pay tribute to the brave Newfoundlanders who made the ultimate sacrifice at Beaumont Hamel in 1916. This was a defining and tragic day in our province’s history, as only 68 of the 780 Newfoundland men who fought that day were able to answer role call the following morning. Residents are encouraged to recognize Memorial Day today and show your gratitude for all veterans who have served for our country.
