Local Hockey Team Wins National Good Deeds Cup

The Northeast Eagles Hockey Team made history this week as the first team from Newfoundland and Labrador to be named as winners of the Good Deeds Cup! Five of the players on the team are from right here in our community, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.

Along with bringing the cup to our province for the very first time, the Eagles have secured $100,000 for their chosen charity Rainbow Riders and bragging rights as Canada’s most inspirational Peewee hockey team. The Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup seeks to inspire young Canadians to do good by transforming the positive values learned through hockey into Good Deeds within their communities.

The team is beyond excited and so happy they can now provide an enormous sum of money to Rainbow Riders, on top of the $21,500 they fundraised as part of their Good Deed.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful initiative!
