Fire Ban Extended Additional 24 Hours for Jurisdiction of PCSP
The Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department and Northeast Avalon Fire Chiefs have extended the current fire ban in place an additional 24 hours, up to and including Friday, June 6th 2025. At this time, the region remains under a high fire hazard rating and the ban will be evaluated based on conditions in 24 hours.
This ban includes outdoor wood-burning appliances, charcoal BBQs, and open fires. Propane firepits and propane BBQs are permitted. All permits have been suspended.
In the meantime, PCSPVFD urges residents to practice fire safety when using propane devices. Always keep a hose or fire extinguisher nearby and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, especially regarding safe clearances from combustible materials.
PCSPVFD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as conditions change.
