Covid-19 Update – Closures and Cancellations

Residents are advised that in accordance with the special measures ordered by Public Health, the following emergency actions are being put in place:
Effective Wednesday, February 10th the Town Hall will be closed to the public for the next two weeks. We encourage all residents to make alternative arrangements to pay their 2021 Residential Property Tax. Please visit the 2021 Tax Payment Information Page for additional ways to make a payment.
Recreation programs, services and events are cancelled for the next two weeks. These include:
- NEW: Snowshoe rentals at Voisey’s Brook Park are temporarily cancelled
- All recreation programs for children, youth, and families
- All adult and seniors programs
- The following Winter Carnival events:
- Community Movies at Cineplex – February 13th and 14th
- Snow and Stars Hike – February 14th
- Flurry of Fun Outdoor Play Day – February 17th
- Seniors Goods Bingo – February 18th
- Youth Hot Chocolate Bomb Creations – February 19th
- Escape Room – February 20th
The following programs and events will go ahead:
- The following Winter Carnival events:
- Scavenger Hunt
- Snow Sculpture Contest
- DIY hand warmer kits (virtual)
All recreation facilities are closed for the next two weeks, this includes the Recreation Centre. However, as the Recreation Centre is a polling location for the Provincial General Election on Saturday, February 13th, residents will be able to access the facility at that time to enter the polling location only.
The Town is taking these measures out of an abundance of caution to support current Public Health measures and to help minimize the potential spread of COVID-19.
