Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21st

National Indigenous Peoples Day, 21 June, is an official day of celebration to recognize and honour the achievements, history and rich cultures of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Indigenous Peoples Day. June 21 was chosen because of the cultural significance of summer solstice and because it is a day on which many Indigenous communities in Canada celebrate their heritage.

The NL non-profit organization First Light is delivering sessions today to make sure we all have the opportunity to learn and grow together! Here’s to a day of learning, appreciating, and celebrating. Check out their schedule below!
