Municipal Enforcement Services

As a means of continuing the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s commitment to public safety, and the Town’s Municipal Enforcement Services will be enforcing Traffic Regulations through ticketing of non-moving traffic violations. The Town’s new Traffic Regulations will support the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in their enforcement of the provincial Highway Traffic Act.

Both the Town’s Municipal Enforcement Services and the RNC will now be ticketing for non-moving related violations, such as parking within a crosswalk, parking within 1 meter of a fire hydrant, parking to obstruct traffic, and more. A full list of offences and a schedule of fines can be found in the town’s Traffic Regulations.

These regulations are enacted to facilitate the safe and orderly flow of traffic and protect pedestrians within the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s. They also support efficiencies of town services (such as snow clearing operations) and emergency response.
