Winter Parking Ban in Effect
With winter weather quickly approaching, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s would like to remind both residents and motorists that the annual winter parking ban is in effect until April 30th, 2026 (inclusive).– No vehicle may be parked, left, or abandoned on any street reservation within the Town between 12:00 am (midnight) and 8:00am.
– Parking is also prohibited during snowfall & snowstorms, and for 12 hours after the snowfall has ended.
– Vehicles left on the roadway may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
When snow clearing is necessary, our snow clearing operators work in a prioritized-phased process to keep roads safe and accessible. An initial pass is completed to ensure roadways are open for emergency vehicles and essential travel as quickly as possible, crews then return to complete a second pass to widen the streets to create safe sight lines and room for future snowfalls.
We understand that winter weather can cause frustrations, however the Town is responsible for clearing streets and not driveways. Our snow clearing operators are skilled and try their best to not push snow into driveways, but this is often unavoidable. Please refrain from placing snow from your driveway onto the road, as it delays clearing operations and creates safety issues.
To help protect your property and assist our snow clearing operators, we encourage residents to place driveway markers along your property boundaries and garbage boxes. They can help our crews identify objects that may be covered by the snow and prevent accidental damage throughout the season.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we enter the winter months.
