Voisey’s Brook Park Dog Park Now Reopened
New Rules and Safety Precautions in Place for All Dog Park Users
Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, NL – The Voisey’s Brook Dog Park is now reopened to the public and their dogs today, Friday, June 12th, 2020 as of 12:00pm. The dog park will be open daily starting at 9:30am and close at dusk. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, there will be new protocols in place, which must be followed by dog park users to ensure the safety of all. The new protocols will be posted on signage at the dog park to indicate the following:
- Maximum of 10 people within the park at any time
- All users must physically distance (minimum of 6ft apart)
- Maximum of 30 minutes per visit (unless no other users waiting)
- Must follow all other dog park usage rules
- Use at own risk
If these protocols are not strictly followed, the park may be forced to close. Bags will be provided in the dispensers on site, and users are also reminded you must always pick up after your pet. In addition, users are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer from home or avail of the town-provided hand sanitizer that will be placed at the park. All users are asked to please leave the town-provided hand sanitizer in place and not to take the bottle home with you upon leaving the park.
As a reminder, all of our parks, sports facilities, and fields in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s remain closed until further notice. The current closure includes the huts, washrooms, soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, skate parks, and playgrounds. At the time, the only facilities within our parks which are open are the walking trails, Voisey’s Brook Dog Park, and Rainbow Gully Community Garden.
We are working towards opening the parks and fields as soon as we can do so safely and in accordance with the newly released Provincial Outdoor Recreation Activities Guidance Document. An announcement will be made as soon as our parks and fields are opened. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work to provide services to our residents in the safest way possible throughout the pandemic.
