Tolt Road Reconstruction and Sewer Project to Commence on Thursday, October 1st
Traffic delays are expected; bus routes adjusted to accommodate
Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, NL – The Town Council of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s would like to advise residents that the Tolt Road Reconstruction and Water/Sewer Project will commence on Thursday, October 1st, 2020. There are two distinct portions of work: (1) The complete reconstruction of Tolt Road and, (2) The extension of sewer services from Thorburn Road to Skinners Road.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by December 11th, 2020. This would include all sewer infrastructure installed, a kilometer of sidewalk, and the first layer of asphalt laid. Completion of this work is dependent on weather conditions.
The section of Tolt Road from Thorburn Road to Skinners Road will be closed during this time, except to local traffic. This partial closure will accommodate the installation of sewer infrastructure.
As a result of the project residents can expect:
Traffic Delays
With a portion of Tolt Road only accessible to local traffic, and the rest of Tolt Road at times down to one lane, residents are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid Tolt Road if possible.
Bus Route Changes
The English School District has revised the bus routes for students affected by the partial road closure of Tolt Road. All students who are affected from Beachy Cove Elementary, Brookside Intermediate, and Prince of Wales Collegiate will have a letter outlining these changes communicated to them directly from their respective school.
