Regular Public Council Meeting Highlights: March 11th, 2026
CAO Report
-The CAO provided information for upcoming events being held in the Town: Best of PCSP Awards, Senior’s St. Patrick’s Day, Easter Scavenger Hunt.
-Youth Hiring is ongoing; information can be found online.
-The tax deadline for 2026 is Tuesday, March 31st.
-Thank you to all those involved who supported and to the residents for their response to the emergency on Tuesday.
Community Services
-Council approved the new Advisory Committee Policy, which can be found on the website at https://pcsp.ca/local-government/policies-bylaws/.
-Council approved a donation to the upcoming under 15 female AAA Atlantics being held at Jack Byrne Arena.
Admin and Governance
-Charlie Hamlyn has been appointed as the head of ATTIPA, in accordance with section 109 of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Corporate Services
– Council adopted the Tax Reduction Policy; this document can be viewed at https://pcsp.ca/local-government/policies-bylaws/
Public Works and Safety
– Council approved a motion to update the fuel monitoring system in the depot. The project will be completed by Petro Service Ltd at a cost of $19,943.30 + HST.
Planning and Development
-Council are proceeding with an amendment to the Town’s Municipal Plan and Development Regulations to restrict development within wetlands identified as High Protection on the Town’s Environmental Protection Overlay Map.
Once the amendment documents have been drafted by the Town’s consultant planner, public consultation will be completed as required by the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000. Notice of the public consultation will be posted at the Town Office and Recreation Centre, on the digital message signs on Portugal Cove Road and Thorburn Road, on the Town’s website and social media, and sent out through PCSP Connects. Residents are encouraged to view the draft amendment documents once they become available and provide any comments to Council.
Proclamations
-Purple Day for Epilepsy is March 26th. Purple Day is a global effort to promote Epilepsy Awareness in countries around the world.
New Business
-Motions ratified under New Business regarding the call and termination of the State of Emergency and the Order to Evacuate that were issued on Tuesday, March 11th.

-The next regular public council meeting will take place on Wednesday April 1st, 2026 at 7:00 pm. Zoom is available for those who wish to attend virtually.
-Committee of the Whole meetings will take place on March 18th, and 19th (if required) beginning 5:30 pm. Zoom is available for those who wish to attend virtually.
