Now Hiring – Heritage Assistant (Summer Student Position)
The Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is seeking a Heritage Assistant (Young Canada Works – Student Summer Employment Position) to help develop a heritage walking tour.
The Heritage Assistant will be required to research aspects of the town’s history, perform oral history interviews, work with existing resources to develop and execute a guided heritage walking tour, and support the heritage coordinator.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have some university and be a full time student in the semester prior to and/or following the YCW position. The candidate will have some courses in either of the social sciences including geography, folklore, history, or any other relevant field of study. He/she will have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be adaptable to working environments including office and some fieldwork. He/she will have great communication and interpersonal skills that will be able to speak with and conduct interviews with residents and community members in a professional matter.
