Notice of e-Scooter Ban

To keep our public spaces safe and enjoyable for everyone, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s has made the decision to ban the use of e-scooters on public property, including trails, parks (this includes playground spaces and historical sites), and the splash pad.

We’ve received several reports of unsafe usage including e-scooters being ridden through the splash pad while children were present, on the playground area while families are using it, and on trails where pedestrians were forced off-path. These spaces are meant for walking, relaxing, and spending time with family.

We understand that e-scooters offer independence and freedom, especially for youth enjoying the outdoors, and we want that to continue but safely. Riders are asked to park and lock scooters at the designated bike racks at park entrances. New bike racks will be installed at both parks, Rainbow Gully Park and Voisey’s Brook Park, to support this effort.

Thank you for helping us keep our community spaces safe for all!
