The Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department (PCSPVFD) wishes to advise all citizens that due to the high fire hazard rating for our Region, a fire ban is currently in effect within the Region of Portugal Cove and St. Philip’s.
The fire ban will remain in effect until Thursday, June 19 where the status of the ban will be assessed, with an update to be provided in the afternoon. This includes outdoor wood-burning appliances, charcoal BBQs and open fires. Propane firepits and BBQs are permitted. All permits are now suspended.
In the meantime, PCSPVFD are asking people to be fire safe when using propane firepits and barbeques, to keep a hose or fire extinguisher handy and follow manufacturer’s requirements regarding clearances from combustible materials.
he PCSPVFD will monitor this situation closely and will update residents of any changes to the ban.
