Fire Ban for Jurisdiction of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department
Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s – The Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department wishes to advise all citizens that a fire ban is currently in effect within the municipality. The fire ban will remain in effect for a minimum of 7 days, with an update to be provided. This includes backyard firepits, chimineas, charcoal BBQs and open fires. Propane firepits and BBQs are permitted. All burn permits are currently suspended.
In the meantime, PCSPVFD are asking people to be fire safe when using propane firepits and barbecues, to keep a hose or fire extinguisher handy and follow manufacturer’s requirements regarding clearances from combustible materials.
The PCSPVFD will monitor this situation closely and will update residents of any changes to the ban.
