Day of Reflection Scheduled for July 1st

In recognition and support of the indigenous communities throughout the country and our province, the Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s has decided to not go ahead with our Canada Day Celebrations scheduled for this July 1^st.

At this time of national mourning, we are encouraging our residents to have a “Day of Reflection” and take this time as an opportunity to listen and educate yourselves and your families on the residential school system and the history of our First Nations. Please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice that supports indigenous communities and people locally, provincially or nationally.
