Avian Flu Information

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has detected and confirmed that there are cases of high pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI), subtype H5N1 in multiple locations on the Avalon Peninsula. Out of an abundance of caution we ask that residents refrain from feeding local wild birds including ducks, gulls, crows, pigeons, and residents may even consider not using backyard birdfeeders for a while.

We encourage residents, especially those with homesteads, flocks, etc. to review these helpful tips from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
