PLANNING TECHNICIAN

The Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Planning Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Planning & Development Department. The Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is an equal opportunity employer.

MUNICIPAL GENERAL WORKER – SEASONAL

The primary function of this classification is to perform general labour work related to the operation of the Town.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections of all Town facilities
  • Maintain all indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and buildings as directed
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment

General Overview of Responsibilities:

The Municipal General Worker is responsible for all duties and responsibilities as they relate to maintaining the Town’s facilities, including outdoor and indoor recreational and Town buildings.  He/she will be responsible for the safe operation of equipment such as lawn mowers, aerators, resurfacers, and light duty power tools in the maintenance and repairs of all Town facilities. He/she is able to work safely and effectively around equipment and is able to detect safety hazards around the immediate work area, particularly where fellow workers are involved.  He/she will support efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes. Due to the nature of the work and its dependency on weather conditions, there may be an occasional need for after-hours shift work.

LABOURER

The primary function of this classification is to perform general supportive tasks related to the operation of the Town.

General Overview of Responsibilities:

The Labourer is responsible for providing physical support tasks such as cleaning and organizing work sites, removal of debris, loading and unloading materials, assembling and disassembling temporary structures, shoveling and sweeping of material, transport of materials, and other related duties in general assistance to other classifications. He/she is able to work safely and effectively around equipment and is able to detect safety hazards around the immediate work area, particularly where fellow workers are involved.  He/she will support efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes. Due to the nature of the work and its dependency on weather conditions, this position will be required to work shift work.
