Erik Fisher
My name is Erik Fisher, and I’m proud to be running for council here in Portugal Cove St. Philip’s. Like many of you, I chose to live here because this community is something special, where families know their neighbors, kids can play safely, and we’re surrounded by Newfoundland’s natural beauty.
When I thought about stepping forward, I asked myself what I want PCSP to look like in the years ahead. For me, it’s simple. A family-friendly town that grows responsibly while protecting the spaces that make it unique.
Growth is important, but it must be the right kind. Development should benefit the whole community, not just a few. That means supporting housing that is both affordable and accessible, while also creating new services and recreation opportunities. At the same time, we must protect trails, green spaces, and the character of our town for future generations.
Our natural areas are part of who we are. Neary’s Pond, Murray’s Pond, and Hogan’s Pond, to name a few, are treasures we need to protect for families now and for the future. And Beachy Cove Beach, one of our most visited spots, deserves to be safer and more accessible so everyone can enjoy it with confidence.
Strong communities also mean opportunities to connect. We need more recreation programs for youth, more spaces for seniors, and better facilities for families. Parks, trails, and gathering spaces aren’t extras. They’re investments in health, well-being, and togetherness.
Finally, council has to listen better. People deserve to be informed and heard. If elected, I’ll work to make communication clearer and ensure residents have a real voice in decisions.
My campaign is about building a stronger, more connected PCSP, one that values families, protects our natural spaces, and grows responsibly. With your support, we can keep this town a place we’re all proud to call home.
