Public Council Meeting Highlights: August 6, 2026
CAO Report
- The Town wishes all the athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff a great week at the Killick Coast Games being held in Pouch Cove, Bauline and Flatrock starting on August 16th.

- Staff are working on the new automated garbage collection program for roll out in the community. If residents have any questions or concerns they are encouraged to call into the Town Office and speak with our public works staff who are happy to help.
Admin and Governance

Community Services
- Beautification Project for Rainbow Gully Park – an approval for an entrance way Rainbow Gully Park beautification project was approved following a request for quotes. The project will be completed by the Grand Concourse Authority, in the amount of $30,263.69, and is a budgeted item for 2026.
Planning and Development
- Council is proceeding with Municipal Plan Amendment No. 25, 2026 and Development Regulations Amendment No. 42, 2026, which propose to enable development of a Garden Suite to provide an alternative housing option on existing properties for affordable, seniors and intergenerational housing, by adopting the Commissioner’s Report and approving the amendments (with the Commissioner’s recommendation). The Commissioner’s Report and amendments will now be forwarded to the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs for registration in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000.
- Council are also proceeding with Development Regulations Amendment No. 44, 2026, which proposes to allow front yard setbacks greater than 32 m at Council’s discretion in select land use zones, by adopting the amendment. The amendments will now be forwarded to the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs for registration in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000.
Public Works and Safety
- Council approved a study on parking and safety in the Beachy Cove Road area surrounding Beachy Cove Beach, to Harbourside Engineering.
- A replacement pump was approved for the Thorpe’s Road sewage lift station, at a cost of $32,590.00 plus HST.
