Town Hall Closure in Observance of National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 22
On behalf of The Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Council and staff, Mayor Bartlett has proclaimed June as National Indigenous History Month throughout our community
This month is a time to honour and celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, languages, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have lived on and cared for these lands since time immemorial, and their knowledge, resilience, and stewardship continue to enrich communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, and throughout Canada.
In observance, Town hall and facilities will be closed on Monday, June 22. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, June 23 (8:30 am to 4:00 pm). If assistance is required, please call our after-hours line (709) 895-8000 and in the event of an emergency, please dial 911.
We encourage all residents to take part in activities and learning opportunities that celebrate Indigenous histories, cultures, and contributions, and to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and mutual respect.
